JAMES Mason believes City's owners’ commitment to back Stuart McCall in the transfer market is the ‘excitement the fans needed’ as the club look to match last year’s season ticket sales.

The Bantams were backed by an incredible 18,000 season ticket holders last term after a cut-price offer which has been repeated again.

Adult season tickets cost just £149 and chief operating officer Mason has urged fans to show their commitment to the club and subsequently give new boss McCall greater spending power on players.

After sales went through the 7,000 barrier yesterday, Mason said: “A good season ticket total can only help Stuart McCall’s transfer budget for the 2016/17 campaign. As soon as we know our budget, the more money Stuart has to spend.

“We understand it’s our job to excite the fans with signings and developments with the stadium, but it’s a two-way process.

“Commit to the club, buy your season ticket and you will be rewarded.

“There is so much positivity around the club right now that we need to harness.

“I acutely understand what fans want to hear from their owners, but if you speak to any Bradford City employee they will tell you how hard the owners are striving to make things work.

“Off the field, we will have some exciting news with regards to sponsorship in the next few weeks.

“The business community are backing our new owners and their ideas on strengthening the squad suggest that next season could be very exciting.

“I would therefore urge people to buy their season tickets sooner rather than later.”

Joint owner Stefan Rupp said: “We appreciate that fans are hungry for new signings immediately.

“But they must remember that Stuart only joined the club at the start of this week and our season was elongated by two weeks because of the play-offs.

“Season tickets therefore went on sale a couple of weeks later than normal, which could mean we extend the deadline.

“But that is simply because we are not going to buy the first players who become available to us.

“We are going to wait and make sure that we get the best possible players out there.”
