STUART McCall will be backed in the transfer market with signings that prove the club’s new owners mean business and are in it for the long haul.

That vow was today made by German duo Edin Rahic and Stefan Rupp, who appointed McCall as Phil Parkinson’s successor on Monday.

Speaking exclusively to the Telegraph & Argus, the owners revealed they were ready to break the recent mould at Valley Parade and pay transfer fees for players if needed.

Parkinson was renowned for his ability to use the market wisely, signing players on frees and loan deals, with the side that famously dumped Chelsea out of the FA Cup in 2014 having been assembled at a cost of £7,500.

Rahic and Rupp assured fans that new faces would arrive shortly but urged them to show patience, with the new season still six weeks away and the fact that the last campaign ended later due to the play-offs.

The new owners completed their takeover last month and have spent this week identifying targets with McCall and assistant Kenny Black.

Rahic said: “We are here to stay and are looking to invest on and off the pitch.

“It has been far from a smooth takeover with Phil leaving, which is not what we wanted, but we are going to back Stuart in the transfer market in order to give him the best possible chance to succeed.

“It has been a really exciting week working with Stuart, Kenny and James (Mason), and we would urge patience from fans because what we won't do is buy players simply because they are available.

“We will sign a mix of good, established professionals coupled with some exciting young talent in the game.

“This means that if the right talent becomes available to fit Stuart's profile and our philosophy as a club, we will not only look to sign them, but at the right price we will be looking to buy them.

“We are already in negotiations with a number of high-level targets who are very familiar to Bradford City fans and some of whom fit what we are trying to achieve.

“Either way, this is a very exciting time for the club and we would urge fans to back us and believe in what we're doing but also understand we will not rush into anything either. They must be the right players.

“Trust us and trust Stuart".

City finished fifth to reach the League One play-offs and it is understood that Parkinson was backed with one of the biggest budgets in the division.

Rahic added: “We will carry on as Bradford City have done with signing good out-of-contract players and using the loan system to get excellent value.

“But perhaps what we are able to do – what the club haven't been able to do in recent years – is buy players who will benefit the club in the mid and long term.

“This has to be our message because we need the fans to know we are here for the long haul.

"We want to meet fans and allow them to get to know us because we are two guys who are open and honest."

“However, the first few weeks of our tenure are focused predominantly on working with Stuart and building a squad ready for the new season. With the season ticket deadline approaching we urge supporters to now back what we are trying to achieve.”
