TERRY Dolan is urging stay-at-home City fans to help boost Avenue’s survival battle tomorrow.

Avenue’s midweek victory over doomed Corby has eased their relegation fears in Vanarama National North.

They now host Worcester – the first of three home dates in the final four games – and director Dolan hopes for cross-club support to swell the gate.

He said: “We need to get more fans in for another big game and with City at Shrewsbury, we’d love to see more people here to support us.

“Worcester have got the likes of Deon Burton and Lee Hughes in their side. They beat us recently so we know what we’re up against.”

Youngsters Dylan Mottley-Henry, who scored the only goal on Wednesday, and Reece Webb-Foster are both currently on loan from the Bantams.

Dolan added: “They are doing well with us and gaining experience. After this game, we’ve got the county cup final against Harrogate Town on Tuesday so it’s a chance for both of them to play at Valley Parade.”

Avenue will be seeking to avenge the 3-1 defeat just 11 days ago when Worcester beat them in the reverse fixture thanks to a brace from veteran striker Hughes.

Darren Edmondson's side lost last Saturday and then again on Monday in two tough away games at clubs in the play-off places but Wednesday's win over basement outfit Corby lifted Avenue into 14th place and six points clear of the drop zone.

They sit just one point behind Worcester, who also enjoyed a victory against one of the sides in the drop zone in midweek as they won 1-0 at second-bottom Hednesford Town.

Edmondson is concerned about injuries and illness, so is left to have a head count before naming his squad.

A chest infection that kept the Bradford boss away from last Saturday's game at Boston United has swept through the club and, with tomorrow's game being their fourth in eight days, players have had to be nursed through.
