JAMIE Proctor is prepared to play the waiting game on his Valley Parade future.

The City striker, who has scored four times since his January arrival from Fleetwood, continues to keep James Hanson out the side.

Proctor was originally signed on loan in the Devante Cole deal before the club took over his Cod Army contract which runs out in the summer.

But the 23-year-old, who has become a popular figure with fans, is no nearer to finding out what will happen then.

Proctor said: “I’ve literally no idea. There are maybe other people who could answer that question but I’m not sure if anybody knows.

“Nothing has been said to me at the moment and I don’t think anything will be until the end of the season.”

Proctor and Billy Clarke have been Phil Parkinson’s preferred starting strike duo for the current charge into the play-off mix that has produced six wins in seven games.

He has been subbed by Hanson midway through the second half of the last six after his race is run.

With five players vying for the two attacking spots, Proctor is not taking anything for granted over his current position – or what might happen next season.

“There are a lot of strikers at the club,” he added. “You’ve got Billy and Hans who are in contract for quite a few years.

“There’s Davo (Steve Davies) and Wes (Thomas) as well so we’ve got competition in there. It’s up to the staff what they want to do.

“We’ve got a long way to go yet and a lot more games for me to keep putting in the performances. That’s all you can do every time you’re given the shirt.

“I’ve got a few goals but if you’re not scoring, you have to contribute all-round to the team. I think I’ve been doing that.”

Thomas has not even made the bench for the last three games because City have their maximum allocation of five loan players in the squad.

He is due to return to Birmingham at the end of the month – the only loanee not covered for the play-offs – and it must be doubtful if he will feature again.
