IT WILL be hard to second guess what Peterborough team Graham Westley sends out tomorrow.

The side that took West Brom to penalties in the FA Cup on Wednesday was far removed from the one that scrapped to a 1-0 win at Chesterfield last week.

Posh played the last 20 minutes of that game with just nine men after right back Michael Smith and centre half Ricardo Santos were sent off.

Both defenders paid the price by sitting out a cracking fourth-round replay but are likely to return as boss Westley rests weary legs.

The squad were given a well-earned day off yesterday in the wake of their cup efforts and Westley will hold a head count after training.

Centre forward Tom Nichols is also expected to return after his goal-scoring debut at the Proact Stadium.

That was the 22-year-old's 13th of the campaign but he was cup-tied in midweek after playing in the early rounds for Exeter.

West Ham youngster Martin Samuelsen stole the plaudits against the Baggies, despite missing one of Peterborough's spot-kicks during the shoot-out.

Gary Lineker was among those to praise the on-loan Danish teenager but Westley may opt to give him a breather on the bench in favour of Erhun Oztumer, the pocket rocket dubbed the 'Turkish Messi'.

Peterborough's backs-to-the-wall triumph over Chesterfield restored their momentum in the play-off race after taking only one point from the three previous games.

But Westley maintains the club's young talent have the potential to play at the highest level – as they demonstrated by matching West Brom over two games.

Westley, who began his Peterborough reign with a 2-0 win at Valley Parade in September, said: "We showed what quality players we have at this club.

"It's a very young squad but if they keep progressing as they are, they won't be in League One for long.

"We're disappointed to be out. We wanted to be in the fifth round of the FA Cup but my lads shouldn't be disappointed.

"We will dwell on the good things and there were many positive pieces of play. We played with a great energy and a good tempo throughout."
