PHIL Parkinson saluted a “big goal” for Steve Davies after City’s last-gasp win this afternoon.

Striker Davies broke his duck for the club in stoppage time as the Bantams came from behind to beat Fleetwood 2-1 at Valley Parade.

Parkinson said: “That’s a big goal for us and also for Steve. He needed a lift.

“If you document his time here. He did his Achilles first day of pre-season, got back in the team and then damaged his medial ligament.

“He’s hit the post, he’s hit the bar, he’s had one v ones and he had a goal disallowed against Fleetwood away. He was due something.

“I still think he’s got work to do. But he’s a player we brought in who we felt has got quality and I’m pleased for him.”

James Hanson’s seventh goal of the season levelled after Jamille Matt had headed the struggling visitors in front.

Parkinson added: “We were dogged and when it wasn’t going well, we stuck at it.

“That’s what we’re all about. We’ve probably played better in recent weeks and not got the result but that’s how football goes.

“It’s amazing what a team full of players with big hearts can do for you. I do believe we’ve got that toughness in the group and it’s important we keep showing it.”
