BILLY Knott won't start playing safe if he gets the nod for City tomorrow.

The play-maker ended a run of four games out of the side by coming on as a substitute against Barnsley.

Knott gave the ball away a couple of times as he tried to take risks in City's attempts to fight back.

But he will not let that curb his enthusiasm for trying to make things happen should he be given a chance to face Fleetwood.

"People know that I will make mistakes – but that's because of the role I have in the team," said Knott.

"If you want to create stuff, you're going to lose the ball sometimes. I could play sideways and backwards all day if you want me to – but that's not me.

"The other night I tried to go forward a bit. I gave it away a couple of times, and they could have scored, but I had to try and make stuff happen.

"We're in League One. You're expected to light up the world straight away but it's not going to happen.

"You've got to try passes and if they don't come off, try them again. The gaffer tells me to enjoy it and you've got to try things to create stuff.

"I'll try to create a goal and that might mean giving the ball away at times. But I'd rather do that than keep the ball the whole game – we've got others who can do that better than me."

Knott is still hopeful that City can recover from their current sticky spell.

He said: "We know we've got goals in the team. It's not working for us at the moment but we're still in the mix."
