JAMES Hanson admits tomorrow’s televised FA Cup replay at home to non-league Aldershot is a potential banana skin for City.

Phil Parkinson’s men were held to a goalless draw by the National League outfit nine days ago and now host them at Valley Parade in a first-round replay.

The winners of the tie will face Southern League Premier Division side Chesham United before the Premier League big boys enter the competition in the third round.

City are in fine form after Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Crewe extended their unbeaten league run to seven games and lifted them to the brink of the play-off zone.

But Hanson is taking nothing for granted and is certainly not eyeing another famous run in the world’s oldest knockout cup competition just yet.

The Bantams reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 1976 last season after dumping out Chelsea and Sunderland to make global headlines.

Yet Hanson said: “I don’t think any of the lads will be even thinking about the third round because we know what a tough game it was down at Aldershot and it will be similar at Bradford.

“They’re going to come up here and relish playing at a big stadium in front of a big crowd and also a television audience.

“I think BT Sport might be hoping for a shock by televising the game live.

“We approached the Millwall replay last season knowing that if we won then we had Chelsea away in the next round.

“We just need to take it one game at a time and make sure we do the job on Wednesday night.”

Hanson is aiming to show Aldershot the real City after an insipid showing during the first game.

The striker added: “If we’re being totally honest, we’re probably a bit fortunate that we’re still in the tie.

“We didn’t play well for down there whatever reason. We had fully prepared for the game and we should have been more up for it but we weren’t.

“The positives are that we’ve still got another crack at it.”

Defender Rory McArdle said: “Whoever wins on Wednesday night has a home draw against a non-league team in Chesham United.

“Going into the third round, once a few big teams come in, if you can get another home draw then who knows where it can take you?

“But it’s important that we don’t get carried away. Everyone knows who the winner of Wednesday’s replay will face but we’re only going to get there if we focus on Aldershot and make sure everything is right.”

James Meredith is set to represent Australia again today in their World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

The Socceroos are travelling to Bangladesh despite terrorism fears around the Asian nation.

Cricket Australia cancelled its tour of the country in October due to safety, but Football Federation Australia is comfortable with its security.

Having enjoyed an impressive debut and played the full 90 minutes of last Thursday’s 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan in Canberra, Meredith is poised to continue at left back.
