BARNSLEY are aiming to capitalise on City’s early struggles by clocking up a third league win on the trot.

And boss Lee Johnson is hoping the “boys” can overcome the “men” in tomorrow’s Yorkshire derby at Oakwell.

Johnson said: “I look at Bradford and see how strong and experienced they are. We’ll have to be at our best to get a result.

“We have to believe in ourselves but not believe the hype that one game can create.

“I’ve been around Yorkshire long enough to know what Bradford are about and they are a good, strong side. The manager is very good and has been very consistent and they have a group of men.

“We’re hoping that can be their weakness as well, with our youth and enthusiasm coming out over their savvy nature and strength.”

Barnsley are traditionally slow starters but followed up last weekend’s home win over Burton by coming from behind to beat Millwall 3-2 at the Den.

Wales international Lewin Nyatanga marked his 27th birthday in style by scoring the stoppage-time clincher.

Johnson added: “I think we showed character in the last three games. To won on penalties at Scunthorpe (in the Capital One Cup) and then to be really leggy and still get a win against an organised Burton side.

“Then to go behind, come back, lose the lead in the dying minutes and then win it is a good sign that all the team, despite being young, don’t capitulate.”

Johnson, who enjoyed the Indian sign over the Bantams during his time at Oldham, will make a late decision on Ryan Williams. The midfielder has been troubled with a niggling groin injury.

But he could hand a first start to Reece Wabara at right back, with James Bree another doubt.

The former England under-20 captain joined Barnsley on a four-month deal after leaving Doncaster in the summer.

Johnson said: “We have put Reece on a contract where he has to prove himself. But he doesn’t have to prove his ability.

“He doesn’t have to improve his intelligence but the desire to be the best he can be.”
