FORMER Liverpool keeper Brad Jones has signed for City on a one-year deal.

The capture of the 33-year-old Australian international ends a long search for another senior stopper to compete with Ben Williams.

Jones was released from Anfield in June, after playing back-up to Simon Mignolet, and was linked with several Championship clubs including Charlton.

It is understood that City have been monitoring him for some time in their keeper hunt. They missed out on Chris Kirkland last week after deciding against signing veteran Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Jones, who previously played for Middlesbrough, goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's home clash with Gillingham.
