CITY made a winning return to Valley Parade as they beat Carlisle 2-0 this afternoon.

Second-half goals from Josh Morris and Gary Liddle gave the Bantams the victory in the only home game of their pre-season schedule.

Morris, who had earlier hit the post, broke the deadlock after 59 minutes with a low 25-yard drive which Carlisle keeper Mark Gillespie could not keep out of the bottom corner.

Liddle, playing at centre half, doubled the advantage 13 minutes later by prodding home after his initial header from a Chris Routis free-kick had been parried.

Steve Davies made his first appearance in City colours when he came off the bench and swept a first-time chance wide after neat work with Luke James. American youngster Jon Lewis also went close in the final minute.

There was an interesting face in the crowd, former Leyton Orient captain Nathan Clarke. The central defender is looking for a northern club after returning to his West Yorkshire roots to be nearer to his family.
