FILIPE Morais was today waiting to find out the severity of a knee injury he suffered in training.

The winger will have a scan on the problem but City fear they could lose the Portuguese for a significant period.

A week after youngster Joe Brennan damaged his knee ligaments, it is a major setback to lose one of their main attacking threats.

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson admitted: "Early signs don't look too good. We won't know the extent until the scan but it's a real blow to us.

"It was just an innocuous challenge in training and he went over on his knee. With young Joe and Fil getting injured, it's a disappointing start for us – but it's the nature of the game.

"He was in a lot of pain and we just hope that the news isn't as bad as we fear it could be."

City fielded a side mainly consisting of trialists in last night's 2-1 loss at Guiseley, their first defeat of pre-season. Winger Adam Drury, one of those trialists, scored the goal before the hosts hit back with a double from Adam Boyes.

Parkinson said: "Obviously a lot of the senior players played 60 minutes on Saturday, so we put out the team we felt was right.

"Normally when we play Guiseley it's the first game before we go on tour and we're able to field everybody for two 45 minutes.

"But it was a good exercise for a lot of the younger players in front of a good crowd and on a good surface. I though they acquitted themselves incredibly well."

American teenager Jon Lewis made his City debut up front and Parkinson was impressed with his performance.

He said: "It was a big ask for him because he's just come over. But he's settled in well and I thought him and Luke James caused them a lot of problems.

"If it was a league game, both their centre halves would have been sent off for several of the tackles they did. But they are both quick, sharp players."

City have also arranged another friendly at Whitby Town for next Tuesday night.
