CITY aim to keep it in the family in their luxurious getaway near Glasgow.

The tourists play their first game in Scotland this afternoon against Motherwell at the Grangemouth Athletics Stadium.

Assistant boss Steve Parkin said: “This is a good week for everybody to get to know each other, do some decent training and make it that family atmosphere that we’ve always done.

“We’ve had a really good team spirit at this football club and nothing changes this year.”

Motherwell avoided the drop from the Scottish Premier League in May by holding off Rangers over two legs in the play-off final – and effectively costing their former boss Stuart McCall any chance of keeping the Ibrox hot-seat.

That was Simon Ramsden’s last outing for the Steelmen and the ex-Bantam ended his three-year stay at Fir Park to move back to his native north-east with Gateshead.

The only connection between the claret and amber “cousins” now is Motherwell’s summer signing Louis Moult. The 23-year-old, who scored once for City in a six-month loan spell under Peter Taylor, banged in 40 goals in the last two seasons with Wrexham.

Motherwell’s ranks also include Josh Law, the younger son of the one-time City boss Nicky.
