WINGER Mark Marshall is City’s latest recruit after signing a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old speedster, who is equally at home on the left or right flank, is currently with the squad in Scotland. But he is unlikely to play against Motherwell tomorrow.

Phil Parkinson was delighted to land Marshall, who has spent the last two seasons in League One with Coventry and Port Vale.

Parkinson said: “He adds pace and power to the team and his ability to go past players in a one v one situation gives us a really good attacking option.

“Mark came up with us to Scotland on Sunday and we finalised the deal over the last 24 hours.

“We felt we needed to add more pace in wide areas and we looked at Mark over the summer. We’ve had to be patient with him but it’s a good deal.

“He’s a Reidy (Kyel Reid) type of player that can play on both sides.”

Marshall has rebuilt his career after a two-year ban while playing for Barnet for testing positive for the stimulant dimethylamylamine, found in the over-the-counter dietary supplement drink Jack3d.

He maintained at the time that he only took the supplement on match days to help reduce the level of dehydration during games.

But Marshall, who has also played for Swindon, bounced back with Coventry before joining Vale a year ago. He scored seven goals last season but turned down Vale’s offer of a new contract.
