BLACKBURN winger Josh Morris is likely to become City’s first signing of the summer.

The highly-rated 23-year-old is poised to seal his switch, expected to be on a free, once the clubs finalise a few technicalities.

And the England under-20 international could be followed by another couple of new faces by the end of the week.

The left flank has been one of the priority areas in Phil Parkinson’s player search, with Filipe Morais and first-year pro Dylan Mottley-Henry the only wide men currently on the books.

Left-footed Morris, who has been chased by Scunthorpe among others, made his debut as a teenager in the Premier League against Manchester United.

But after 20 appearances in the top two divisions, he has spent the last year and a half on loan with Fleetwood.

Morris scored eight goals in 47 outings for the Cod Army in their first campaign in League One.

He previously helped them to promotion via the play-offs, winning the free-kick which led to the only goal against Burton in the 2014 final. Morris was voted League Two player of the month for April during that season.

Morris, who has also been on loan at Yeovil, Rotherham and Carlisle, is still under contract at Ewood Park but Blackburn are looking to offload players to help free up funds for Financial Fair Play purposes.

City, who returned to pre-season training yesterday, have confirmed the second friendly of their Scotland tour against Motherwell for Tuesday, July 14.

But it will have to be played at 2pm at the Grangemouth athletics stadium because the Fir Park pitch is being renovated and will not be ready in time.

Motherwell’s successful involvement in the play-offs, when they beat Rangers to stay up, extended their season and meant that planned improvements on the surface had to start later.

The City friendly has been switched to the nearest available sports facility – but it will have to kick off in the afternoon because the athletics stadium is already in use for that night.

Meanwhile, Andy Halliday is hoping to win a contract on trial at Rangers following his exit from City.
