MARK Lawn has taken a veiled swipe at rivals throwing the cash around after the Football League tightened up their administration guidelines.

Under the new crackdown, teams will be docked 12 points rather than ten for going into admin.

The league have also made it tougher for clubs to exit the financial restrictions. Teams must pay a minimum 25p for every pound owed – or face a further 15-point deduction.

But even with the new measures, Lawn still believes there are owners who will not learn.

The Valley Parade joint-chairman said: “I’d never put Bradford City in a position where we’re going to go into administration.

“But there are always going to be mavericks that go into football clubs.

“A couple of clubs at our level seem to be spending a lot for the assets they’ve got. It’s a shame.

“We’ve not had anyone go into administration for the past two or three seasons. The penny dropped with us but new owners are the problem.

“They get involved and maybe don’t understand. You get a promotion and think it’s going to just carry on.”

Lawn did not reveal names but newly-promoted Bury have raised eyebrows with their ambitious double capture of strikers Leon Clarke and Tom Pope.

City were perilously close to going out of business when they went into administration as a second-tier club twice in three years.
