CREWE will view League One survival as a reason to celebrate.

Alex need a draw tomorrow to ensure they stay up – and boss Steve Davis insists that will be a real achievement after a terrible start. They had just four points after 11 games.

Davis said: “A club like Crewe should be celebrating saying up in a league that’s very tough and challenging but nevertheless where we think we should be.

“The players need to be applauded because of how they have turned the season around.”

Skipper Harry Davis hopes to shake off the calf problem which forced him off in the 3-1 win at Coventry – a huge result in their safety bid.

But boss Davis is not expecting any final-day favours from the Bantams.

City had their say in the survival scrap last year with a win at relegated Tranmere on the last day. Davis knows they will not be taking it easy against his team.

He said: “I know Phil Parkinson and Parky (Steve Parkin) and they’re winners through and through.

“They won’t allow the players to come to Gresty Road with their flip-flops and their towel and trunks because that’s not their character.”
