THE play-offs may have disappeared out of reach for City but season 2014-2015 has still been one to remember.

Who, after all, will ever forget a certain afternoon at Stamford Bridge? Or another against Sunderland? Or two rocking nights at Valley Parade when Millwall and, best of all, Leeds were put to the sword.

There have been great “I was there” moments that will live with supporters for years to come. Players have come to the fore and produced on the biggest of stages.

Now is the time for the Valley Parade faithful to decide who has been their top man.

The Telegraph & Argus/JCT600 player of the year will be unveiled at a sold-out annual awards night at the club on Tuesday, April 28.

It is down to the supporters who will lift the trophy that was won last season by skipper Stephen Darby.

The captain won it by a landslide last season, polling twice as many votes as any of his team-mates. It was a similar one-sided tale the year before when Gary Jones swept all before him.

But this time, the battle promises to be fascinating, with no clear favourite. There are several genuine contenders for the coveted crown.

Darby, an ever present last year, has been one of the defensive regulars once more and nobody has started more games.

Alongside him, Rory McArdle is enjoying his finest season in the claret and amber, having shown himself to be one of the most consistent centre halves in the division.

When the campaign kicked off in August, James Meredith was the back-up to Alan Sheehan. But having regained the starting shirt two months later, the Australian has rarely taken a backward step and is playing as well as he ever has done since arriving at Valley Parade three years ago.

Andrew Davies has delivered some towering displays in a season that has unfortunately once again been curtailed by injuries.

In front of them, Gary Liddle has been getting the job done with the minimum of fuss in the midfield hub. Full of energy, he rarely wastes a tackle or pass and makes the midfield engine room tick.

The likes of Billy Knott and Mark Yeates have popped up with vital goals at key moments; Filipe Morais was instrumental in the mid-season revival with his wing play.

And up front, Billy Clarke, James Hanson and Jon Stead have all played major roles in a year that took City to within 90 minutes of Wembley.
