THE Italian revolution has made a stuttering start at Leyton Orient.

Long-time backer Barry Hearn sold out to businessman Francesco Becchetti in the summer but last season’s play-off finalists have struggled to rediscover that form.

Last week’s 4-1 win over Crewe was their first at home – and first under new boss Mauro Milanese.

The former Italian international, originally brought in as technical director, took over the hot-seat last month following Russell Slade’s resignation to join Cardiff.

Influential midfielder Romain Vincelot believes Milanese’s precise methods on the training ground are starting to pay off.

Vincelot said: “We have tried really hard training-wise with Mauro. He tried to identify every little mistake that cost us and we have been working on it.

“It has been long and it could have been boring but we have to do it because there is no other solution than to repeat it over and over again until we fix it.

“He’s been really good to identify the little areas that we really need to improve.

“With his background having played at the top in Italy, a country which is aware of little details, he gave us some tips.”

Orlent are one of only four teams to have picked up less home points than City – and Vincelot admitted “paranoia” was creeping in as results continued to go wrong.

He added: “We have been a bit paranoid about everything recently because every little mistake has cost us. Something 50 yards from goal would lead to a goal against us.”

Like the Bantams, the O’s currently travel far better and have lost only two of their nine away games – winning at Oldham, Scunthorpe and Doncaster.

Former City loan striker Chris Dagnall warmed up for his return to Valley Parade with a goal and three assists last week.

He said: “We don’t want to be in a relegation fight all out. We’ve got to start getting points on the board to push up the table.

“There are a lot of games coming up and it’s a chance to get some good momentum. We’ve had a good week’s training after the Crewe result and we’ll be ready to go again at Bradford.”
