UNDERDOGS Halifax have been urged to keep their heads and not get sucked in by the derby atmosphere.

The Shaymen go into tomorrow’s clash as the form team with four clean sheets on the bounce.

Boss Neil Aspin is expected to name the same side that drew 0-0 at Wrexham last week as they look to reach the FA Cup second round for the first time as a reformed club.

Aspin said: “We’re not going to win the FA Cup, so you might as well get the biggest opposition you can as early as possible.

“For some of the lads, it will be the biggest game they have played in and there might be a few nerves.

“My job is to keep the players relaxed, not to try and get them more uptight. We have to be competitive, as you have to be in a derby, but at times you need to have a bit of quality.

“They’ve got to play with their hearts but use their heads as well. It’s no good charging around aimlessly.”

Phil Senior, the club’s longest-serving player, does not believe that current form or league position will come into it.

The experienced keeper, who will be on the bench as back-up to former Bantam Matt Glennon, said: “I don’t think it would really make a difference if Bradford had won their last five games and we’d lost them.

“The FA Cup has obviously proved that there can be a few upsets on the cards.

“They are two leagues above us but on any given day it doesn’t really make a difference.”
