FORMER City winger Raffaele De Vita has joined Cheltenham on a short-term deal.

The Italian, whose time at Valley Parade was dogged by a thigh injury, has signed for three months for the League Two club.

Cheltenham boss Mark Yates revealed that ex-City defender Matt Taylor, who is their captain, gave De Vita a glowing recommendation.

Yates said: "Matt spoke very highly of him and I listen to my own lads when they tell me about experienced players who we may be bringing in.

"A few clubs were interested in signing Raffa when he left Bradford but nothing materialised.

"He will add versatility because he can play in a few positions and he works hard, nicks a goal and he is a decent man. He wants a chance to put himself out there."
