PHIL Parkinson will hold a City head count before deciding if they need to dive straight back into the loan market.

The emergency loan window for Football League clubs reopens tomorrow – and could tempt the Bantams boss to try to bolster his streamline squad.

Parkinson has injury concerns with four players following Saturday's miserable 3-1 home defeat to Yeovil. Filipe Morais missed out with a thigh injury, Matty Dolan broke down in the warm-up, Alan Sheehan has an issue with his thigh and Mason Bennett hobbled off.

With the limited numbers at his disposal, Parkinson intends to assess the walking wounded today before approaching the board about any more short-term recruits.

He said: "We need to look at the lads who've got the knocks first. We'll see the extent of those and then decide what we are going to do.

"We've got to make sure that win, lose or draw next week, it's a proper Bradford City performance."

Parkinson insists there will be no knee-jerk reaction to a second loss in three league games at Valley Parade. City looked jaded and off the pace and "well below the standards we've set so far this season".

The City boss felt that the hectic schedule had caught up with his team, who now have no midweek game for the first time since the season kicked off.

He said: "We weren't anywhere near how we can play and that's disappointing. We didn't have the sharpness in our play and enough energy to mount a challenge.

"We had two or three concerns going into the game and then Matty Dolan got injured in the warm-up.

"You do get those niggles at this stage of the season when you've had so many games. We've just got to get those cleared up and get the standard of training later in the week really spot on. We will do."

Morais had to sit out his first game since signing a new four-month deal after straining his thigh on Friday.

Parkinson admitted the Portuguese midfielder was a significant loss to his pre-match planning. Sam Wright had to be promoted from the youth team to the bench in his absence.

The City boss said: "It was a shame because we'd worked on Thursday on a contingency plan should we go behind in the game. That obviously included Fil in the team and utilising his pace. It was nothing serious but enough to keep him out."

Rory McArdle scored for City but two of Yeovil's goals came from centre half Aaron Martin as the visitors won the aerial battle.

Parkinson said: "Set-plays are crucial and, if we're honest, they were the better team in both boxes. Their centre halves won everything and they reacted to second balls quicker than us.

"We just got overpowered for the first goal and the second was a lack of communication. That was particularly disappointing.

"It's something we've been good at over the years (dealing with set-pieces) but on Saturday we weren't.

"But we got the goal and, as you've seen many times, when we kick towards the Kop second half we have a real go and get the crowd off their seats. Unfortunately we just could not respond this time.

"But we have had a good start and we'll take that all day."
