Lee Butler will be City’s goalkeeping coach for the new season.

The well-travelled 47-year-old has taken up the role that had been carried out on a temporary basis by Matt Duke since Kevin Pressman left for Millwall.

Butler, who has signed a one-year deal, was coach at Doncaster from 2008 until last month. He worked under Sean O’Driscoll, Dean Saunders and Brian Flynn at Rovers before Paul Dickov came in.

Sheffield-born Butler played for various clubs including Barnsley, Aston Villa, Wigan, Dunfermline and Halifax – where he began his coaching under Chris Wilder.

I bet Lee Butler played for Villa when we beat them 5-0 in the Simod Cup in 1987 !

Good !---Now we need another 'Keeper' as back-up to Jon Mac. and the Coach will have 'Keepers'- to coach!!!.

No Freddy, we need another keeper, but why does he have to be back-up? Jon McLaughlin can become a great at City, but he genuinely needs someone to push him on. I seriously believe we need someone to make him fight for his place; not just someone to bench warm and wait for their chance.

We need a proven keeper with experience and I'm not talking about Schwarzer.
