Bradford City game called off

City's game at Wycombe has been postponed after a 10.30am pitch inspection.

The heavy rain is causing fixture chaos all over the country and the trip to Adams Park became another victim of the weather.

Surely Wycombe must have knew the weather was going to be bad, why only fist mention of a pitch inspection an hour ago? They should have said last night they were planning one, maybe they wouldnt have been so last minute about it

Just sat on coach at Leicester forest waiting to come home! What a waste of time that was. At least we saw Tim and Sticks in the services looking lost!

What a blessing for Wycombe, 3 key players suspended and another 2 or 3 out injured!

I know it's a bummer that they had a few players out. They was on a good run though. Hopefully we will have a few back by the time the game is scheduled again so it's swings and roundabouts really!

Do they not have covers or maybe they deliberately left them off. 3 main players out facing a confidant city side with a two thousand away fans. How many with work commitments will be able to make the midweek game?

I assume the " Free " Tickets will be valid for the re-arranged match--possibly in February or April.- ( Weather permitting again!), and on a Tuesday night. Also, hopefully the £10.00 Coach travel cost.
*
Perhaps one positive is, City will have several of the First Team Players achieving even more rest. Especially those that did not play at Brentford. Also allowing some more time, for injuries to heal.
*
I trust the Valley Parade Pitch Drainage was further repaired recently--and it will be in its usual excellent playing condition, for next Wednesday and Saturday's Home Matches.

clear the roof gutters and that will help:these desperately need clearing to stop over flow onto the pitch:job delayed because of cost for years now!!

Yes Freddy, tickets are valid for rearranged game, but how many of the 1200 or so, that set off today, can afford to take a Tuesday off work?

It's a bummer because the club probably can't get their money back. Win/Win/Win for Wycombe. They have money in their pocket now, don't have to play the game against 1200+ away fans and will have key players back for rearranged game.

It's sodds law, but there is nothing that could have been done to prevent it

If it was worth 'giving up on' the FA Cup because of too many matches' (well it certainly felt like that!!) we've got to be pleased that City have got an unplanned 'blank' Saturday.

Of course those who set off/were on their way won't have been pleased about it, but 'cest la vie'!!

What don't you understand. The weather was predicted all week so why no covers to protect the pitch? Other games not too far away were on. If a club wants it can make the effort if not leave the pitch unprotected then shrug your shoulders. I remember a city game earlier this season going ahead after even more prolonged heavier rain

Exactly macca. The weather warnings were there for the south of England. I don't get why WWFC dawdled and decided at 9.30 to have a pitch inspection at 10.30. They knew this weather was coming overnight, they should have been prepared and said last night a pitch inspection would be required in the morning.

It meant myself and many hundreds of others could maybe have waited for the outcome at a service station near somewhere like Sheffield rather than getting well over halfway there and having to turn back.

Just heard Brentford have been have been thrown out of the FA up for fielding an eligible player last Tuesday night ? Marcello Trotta the lad who scored twice against us was not signed on to play against us from Fulham, if this is true (which I believe it will be as it came from a good sauce within the club) Mark Devlin will be spitting feathers after his **** about the FA reinstating us..!! "what goes around comes around" Mr Devlin as the saying goes, watch this space :-)).

That would be beyond hilarious.

Very much doubt it though.

If not, I would like to see this match arranged for Tuesday 09 April 13. To be part of City's final run in, to achieve Promotion!!!. Then- I feel it would be worth taking the day off work??.Plus, could the Club to put on £10.00 Coach Fares.& Re-Negotiate the 2000 or MORE Away Tickets and prices/costs/refunds
?.

I agree your comment 'Tyker'. Does the rain pour off 'The Kop' roof & in other parts of the ground??. If the Club make a few bob from these Cup Matches--perhaps some maintenance may occur.
*
But I also wonder if the 'OWNER' of Valley Parade is WHOLLY responsible for its continued safety repairs & maintenance ???.That could account for the grounds gradual deterioration.
*
The Owners reticence to correspond with the Club etc., would be one reason, and explanation, for the LACK of maintenance, around many areas of Valley Parade.

One thing I don't understand is how Wycombe have city's money for tickers for a game never played. Don't know how it is done but do the club buy the tickets from Wycombe or do Wycombe charge the club when they see how many have come through on the turnstiles? Why don't we all take our tickets back so city can send them back to Wycombe and get their money back as I am sure Wycombe won't know exactly how many would of turned up. Sorry if this sounds silly but don't know the rules on all this.

My be City purchased 2,000 on a sale or return basis, but as you say no one apart from Bradford City know how many fans took up the offer..!!

Interesting to note that the rugby is on at Adams Park today. Not wishing to be cynical but I'd say it suited Wycombe to have the match called off yesterday...let's hope we rub their noses in it when the match is played.

The pitch is seemingly fine today as Wasps v Sale Sharks is taking place at Adams Park as I type this in. I live roughly 30 miles from Wycombe and can vouch for the fact that it rained all evening and into the early hours where I am. I hope City ask some questions about this especially if Wycombe had covers and didn't bother to use them

confirms what I said about the wetaher in the area: a local referee could have been called in a lot earlier . The platers hd travelled the previous day but couple of thousand fans could have been told befre the start of the journey.

It is quite understandable that the rugby game went ahead today:they enjoy a good rumble in the mud!!

I would suggest anyone who can't make the replay of the Wycombe game.To return their ticket and maybe the club can either get a refund or it could allow other dedicated City fans who can make it to go. Why should Wycombe benefit from a postponed game.

I think we should boycott the game and return all the tickets as the more I read about this the more I begin to think Wycombe did not give a dam about playing a game when they had 3 key players out due to suspension and 2 out injured. If they had covered the pitch then the game might of been payable. Hope we slaughter them when we do play them.

Burton at home under Taylor anyone, late pitch inspection, dodgy decision after the frost covers left off overnight, away fans travelled a shorter distance only to be told ONE hour before kick off it was off.
