Bradford City skipper Ricky Ravenhill already has giant-killing victory over Wigan to his name

Ricky Ravenhill’s red card frustration will increase even more tonight because he has dumped Wigan out of the cup on their own turf before.

As Ravenhill sits out the first of his three-game ban for the contentious dismissal against Burton, few outside Bradford will give them a prayer of bridging a three-division gulf between the sides.

There are 59 places currently between the clubs. But that’s only two more than when Notts County, including the City midfielder, won at Wigan in the FA Cup fourth round in February 2010.

The promotion-bound League Two club had seen a two-goal advantage disappear in the final seven minutes at home but they stunned the Latics 2-0 in the replay.

Wigan were beaten by lower league opposition in both cups last season and will not take City lightly. Saturday’s win over West Ham was their first at the DW Stadium this term at the fifth time of asking.

Roberto Martinez is likely to name a strong squad but will be without Scottish international James McArthur after he picked up his fifth booking.

I can’t remember too many games in my career as a player or manager when we’ve taken 5,000 supporters. It’s a night we’ve got to enjoy.”
