Out! For another 50 weeks of the year anyway.
The tennis season, at least as we Brits know it, ended on Sunday with that never-endathon between Roger Federer and the wrong Andy.
I missed it all and instead basked in the sunshine at Old Trafford watching a belting day’s cricket.
Was the Wimbledon final up to much? It depends who you ask.
Some claim it was the greatest match ever seen; others that it dragged on longer than a full season of Big Brother.
At the end of it, Federer emerged supreme with his record victory. The beaten Roddick at least had the honour of pleasing a sizeable section of the population by putting out a certain Scotsman.
Meanwhile, the women’s contest was another predictable family affair between the Williams sisters. This year it was Serena’s turn.
An obvious outcome? Well at least the commentators had the new roof to babble on about for a fortnight – and we were spared any warbling from Sir Cliff.
