Who says that football is immune to the global credit crunch?
A record £80million is on the way to the Old Trafford coffers once the tiresome Cristiano Ronaldo finally flounces off into the Madrid sunset.
Apart from finally putting this on-going soap opera to bed, the real interest will be how much of that wonga Fergie gets to spend.
I suspect a hefty chunk of Manchester United’s newly-acquired millions may find itself across the pond to help ease the debts racked up by their American owners.
