Bob Geldof never liked Mondays but City don’t seem all that keen on Saturdays – when they are playing at Valley Parade anyway.

We all know how indifferent the home form has been down the years but thanks to good friend of the column Mike Harrison, of City Gent fame, for pointing out the current slump the Bantams are stuck in.

The League Two table makes pleasant reading at the moment. But did you know that it is now four months since City won at Valley Parade on a traditional Saturday afternoon?

Nope, me neither. But Mike’s research in the new issue of the fanzine proves the Bantams have now gone eight winless Saturdays on their own turf.

The run began with the 3-1 loss to Bournemouth in September, their only home defeat. Six draws in seven matches followed with an FA Cup exit at the hands of Leyton Orient in between.

For the record, Luton, Gillingham, Barnet, Dagenham, Chester and Shrewsbury have all shared the spoils.

There have been three home wins during that time. But Bury and Chesterfield were both seen off on Tuesday nights and Morecambe on the Sunday after Christmas.

You have to go right back to September 13 for the last Saturday home success when Exeter were beaten 4-1.

Yet this is not a particularly unusual occurrence. In the relegation season in League One, City’s winless weekend run at Valley Parade stretched to ten games.

Here’s hoping the current record can be put straight against Accrington, otherwise the campaign for Friday night football starts here.
