A warm welcome in Gran Canaria

These City fans pop up everywhere.

The old man stepped into a bar in Gran Canaria to check the football scores and discovered the lady serving was a former Valley Parade regular.

She had owned a season ticket for more than 20 years before taking the strange step of swapping West Yorkshire for a life of wall-to-wall sunshine in the Canary Islands.

But she is still a dyed-in-the-wool supporter and logs on to the T&A website every morning for the latest updates.

To prevent being accused of giving out free advertising plugs, I won’t name the bar here – and anyway, the old fella couldn’t remember it.

But the next time you’re wandering round the picturesque port of Puerto Mogan, it’s the watering hole directly opposite the big car park!
