My all-time Bantams loan XI

By Simon Parker »

Tom Clarke’s arrival from Huddersfield this week has stirred up the old argument about loan signings.

It’s funny how people will moan about bringing in short-term players who they claim won’t be as committed to the club as those permanently under contract.

Yet, when things aren’t going well, the same fans are urging the manager to go out and bring in this or that player to freshen it up.

You can have too many, as City found to their cost when Colin Todd stacked the ranks with loanees at the start of the season which ended with relegation to League Two.

But there’s also no doubt that a few gems have come into the Valley Parade dressing room for a month or two.

I’ve seen a fair few come and go in my nine seasons covering City. And during a rare idle moment, I came up with this team which proved as good as any Bantams loan XI.

Goalkeeper: Scott Loach.

Defence: Nathan Doyle, Damion Stewart, Kelly Youga, Andrew Taylor.

Midfield: Eoin Jess, Ronnie Wallwork, Nicky Law, Matt Etherington.

Strikers: Michael Proctor and Dele Adebola.

If anyone thinks they can do better, feel free to let me know your team by clicking on the 'Comment' box under the story.
