‘Champions host Magpies on opening day’ claimed the headline above the new football fixtures.
Blimey, I thought, getting a bit presumptious there aren’t we! I know the bookies have flagged up City as pre-season favourites for League Two but it’s a bit much unofficially crowning them before a single ball has been kicked.
As it turns out, the paper was talking about Manchester United v Newcastle; not City v Notts County.
But it was an understandable mistake to make.
