Taxi for Dagenham?

By Simon Parker »

Dagenham’s small away following was predictably mocked by the Valley Parade regulars.
The 166 fans who travelled from Essex were soon serenaded with a chorus of: “You could have come in a taxi.”
The supporters may not have done – but the players did.
Forget the Premier League fat cats, who hop on a plane for any journey of more than an hour; or even the overnight hotel stop, which 99 per cent of League Two would do for that distance.
No, Dagenham’s squad were on the platform at Kings Cross station on Saturday to catch the mid-morning train up to Leeds.
From there, they hopped into a fleet of cabs to get across to Valley Parade.
Sadly by 5pm it was a case of “taxi for City” as the Daggers set off home with three away points in the bag.
