There could be something resting on City’s last home game after all.
Opponents MK Dons still need another point to clinch promotion. They are all but up because of a superior goal difference but defeat against form side Stockport on Saturday afternoon would
mathematically leave them waiting for another week.
So once again City could be the bridesmaids for someone else’s party. It’s happened a lot in recent years – I can think of two promotion games for West Brom and Portsmouth’s
title-clincher at Valley Parade in 2003.
Hopefully the Dons will still be sweating on one more point because it gives the occasion an extra edge.
But wouldn’t it be nice if, this time next year, it could be the home side crossing the line for promotion and not the visitors?
