Bradford Dudley Hill Devils under-13s have set themselves a target to go the whole season unbeaten to do justice to their smart new kit.

The youngsters were struggling to find a backer for the new campaign but finally attracted interest from housing company Keepmoat and have since won their opening three games.

The Devils play in Division Four of the Yorkshire Junior League and were 18-0 winners at York Acorn, thumped Townville 50-14 at home and then went to Heworth and logged a 24-16 victory.

Kieron Stewart has been coaching this group for the last three years and believes they have a great chance of winning honours this season.

“We have added a few good lads since last season and now have a core of about 20 which I think is the strongest we have been since I started,” he said.

“Our aim has to be to go the whole season unbeaten in the league after the start we have had.

Stanningley are probably our main rivals and we were due to play them last weekend, only for the fixture to fall victim to the snow.

“When that match is rearranged, it should give us an idea of how far we have come.

“Also, we are due to play Brighouse Rangers in the cup in a few weeks. They play a division higher than us but we played them last season and only lost by ten points, so that should give us a pointer as well.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Keepmoat, who have sponsored the team and have really helped us to be able to continue playing a sport that we enjoy.”

National housing and regeneration specialists Keepmoat Homes donated £1,000 to the Devils to provide 25 new playing kits.

Keepmoat stepped in after the team had contacted hundreds of local businesses without success.

Steven Graham, partnerships manager at the company, said: “I was forwarded an e-mail from the rugby team and we were more than happy to assist.”
