Tiler gets a lift with record treble

Rebekah Tiler of Denholme has broken three Northern weightlifting records at her home club.

The teenager notched 42kg on the snatch in the Northern Junior Championships at the Perform Centre in Rossendale, plus 71kg at clean and jerk for an overall total of 113kg, all of which were area records.

Now the Bingley Harrier is aiming to break the British all-time records for each event, which are currently held by Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Zoe Smith.

Tiler also won two trophies – the best Northern junior female in her category and the best Northern junior female overall.

She had a day which certainly pleased her coach Dave Bell, the competition organiser.
