5:50pm Tuesday 20th December 2011 in Cricket By Bill Marshall
Entry forms are now out for next year’s Gordon Bowers under-nines competition.
Players must be aged under nine on September 1, 2011 to qualify. Matches will be eight-a-side with each innings lasting 16 overs, apart from the final which is 20 overs per side.
The competition is open to all leagues and teams will be divided into four groups of four, based geographically as much as possible.
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout phase and the final will be in late August or early September at Undercliffe Cricket Club.
All matches will be played under MCC rules unless otherwise stated and although a Supaball is used and no pads are necessary for batters, they will be required to wear a box and gloves.
Wicketkeepers should wear a box, gloves, pads and a helmet if they are standing up to the wicket.
Any clubs interested in joining the competition who have not already received an entry form should contact Tom Priestley at 21 Lynwood Close, Birkenshaw, Bradford, BD11 2EU, call 01274-872942 or e-mail tpriestley346@btinternet.com.
The closing date for entry is January 31 and the entry fee is £5 per team.
