Shelf under-nines won the Halifax League title after an unbeaten league campaign and have just earned £450 of sponsorship and funding.

Yorkshire Building Society dontated £250 from their Community Investment Fund plus local businessman Matthew Papworth donated £200.

The money will be spent on winter coaching sessions for the children and new training equipment.

Junior coach Andy Dimbleby said: "The cricket club has not had much success recently and winning the under-nines league this year has not only been a tremendous achievement but has also given the club a boost.

"We have a very talented young group of children and through the generosity of YBS and Matthew we will now be able to coach the kids through the winter months."
