Four primary schools from the West Bradford School Games Network will battle it out for a place in the next round of the Drax Cup 2013 under-nines competition on Thursday at Great Horton Church Cricket Club (12.30pm start).

Lidget Green, Springwood, Farnham and Southmere will compete for a place in the West Yorkshire area finals taking place later this month.

This year is the biggest ever Drax Cup, attracting a record 440 schools from across the county.

Teams play in a series of round-robin events to produce four area winners, one from each region of Yorkshire.

These four teams will play the Drax Cup 2013 finals at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Tuesday, July 9, prior to Yorkshire Carnegie v Leicestershire Foxes in the Friends Life t20.

The competition is sponsored by Drax and organised by The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in conjunction with Yorkshire Cricket Board, Yorkshire Schools’ Cricket Association and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.

The sponsorship by Drax is part of the company’s Cricket In The Community scheme which also provides cricket coaching to schools.
