Drighlington Juniors under-tens played in some world-class facilities during a memorable tour of Holland.

Extensive fund-raising enabled the club to take enough boys for two teams and each one played two matches.

They both lost to Spikenisse at a stadium which spokesman Phillip Marshall said “certainly beat playing on Drighlington Moor” but then won twice against a team called Breil, where again the facilities were superb.

The tourists also had the chance to visit the Holland International Stadium, home of the legendary Ajax club.

Marshall said: “This was a fantastic and really informative tour and the stadium, complete with its roof, was a magical sight for all the boys.”
