Jacob McLoughlin snatched a last-minute equaliser to earn Wibsey Lions A under-tens a 2-2 home draw against Savile Town in the Huddersfield League.
Travis Wardman intercepted a Savile pass and put the ball over the top to McLoughlin, who raced through and sent his shot into the far corner for a superb goal.
Unfortunately the final whistle came almost straight away and too soon for the Lions to find a winner from a match they could easily have won.
McLoughlin, who missed several chances to score before half-time, had set up Ben Kerwick for the opening goal with a first-time strike.
Owen Khan also squandered a good opportunity and it was Savile who scored next to make it 1-1 at the interval.
Jack Hewitt-Hill made some great saves to keep Wibsey in the game before having to go off injured.
Cameron Balmforth took over in goal and also made some good stops, while Connor Barran made a clearance off the line before Savile netted what looked destined to be the winner.
Khan, McLoughlin and Barran all forced good saves by the Savile keeper before one last push saw Wibsey gain their deserved equaliser.
Meanwhile, the Lions’ B team won their under-tens game against Savile 4-1 to keep up the pressure on Drighlington and Batley at the top of the table.
A Hewitt-Hill own goal gave Savile the lead but Wibsey hit back well and equalised through McLoughlin, who had come off the bench.
Khan edged the Lions in front with the goal of the day from an unstoppable free-kick and he and McLoughlin added further strikes before the end.
