THACKLEY have made a notable impression in their first competitive girls' matches.

They were competing in a West Riding Girls' League Gala, and the under-nines won the Shield after a close tussle with Guiseley, while the under-tens were runners-up in their Shield after a penalty shoot-out defeat.

Meanwhile the club are seeking Year Six girls to play under-11 league matches.

If anyone is interested, they should contact Thackley Juniors' head of girls Michelle Woollias at ThackleyGirls@btinternet.com.

The weather dominated Bradford Park Avenue's Huddersfield RCD League Under-12 Division Two home match against Gomersal & Cleckheaton, despite Avenue winning 4-1.

Ellis Joseph bagged a hat-trick before Aaron Midgley netted, but the man of the match was Connor Chippindale.

Elland B ended Bradford Park Avenue B's involvement in the Under-12 Trophy but only after extra-time.

Going 2-0 down in the second half, Avenue's hopes looked forlorn but a penalty save by Ben Bordall inspired Lewis Emmott and Clark Bolton to score special goals.

However, Elland B were the stronger in the extra period and ran out worthy winners 5-2.

Bingley made home advantage count in their Craven, Aire & Wharfe League Under-Eight Division E match against Bolton Woods on the artificial grass at Beckfoot School.

The hosts won 10-2, the visitors' goals coming from John Gazi and Ellis Cahill, but Mia Holden, who played both in defence and as a goalkeeper, was player of the match.

Skipper Elliott Godfrey-Clark's hat-trick gave Thackley a distinct edge in their 6-1 Under-18 A Division victory at lowly Menston Rovers, other goals for the winners coming from Joel Cherkiwski, Jack Dutson and substitute Connor Wilson, with Elliott Horne replying.

Thackley are the best of the rest but third-placed Salts Lions kept the pressure on top two Steeton and Oxenhope with an 8-0 home win over Long Lee, Jason Anderson bagging a treble and Matthias Britton and Tom Love doubles to add to a solitary Jordan Windle goal.

Bottom club Myrtle Park Wanderers notched a surprise 5-1 win at mid-table Silsden, Robert Golson's hat-trick being added to by Ben Appleyard and Mathew White, with captain Sam Maude replying.
