DUDLEY Hill Rangers Under-11s did not search for a kit sponsor this season.

Instead their coach Pete Softley decided that the boys should pay tribute to the fallen of 100 years ago.

They have a poppy and 1914-2014 emblazoned on their kits to pay tribute to the casualties of the First World War, and Softley said: "The boys know that the sacrifices of our ancestors mean they can be free to play football today, and it is right that children should pay their respects."

Perhaps inspired by their new kit, they defeated neighbours and bogey team Albion Sports 6-0 at Woodhall Playing Fields in an impressive team display in the Bradford & District Keybury League.

Karlson Ogie's pace up front caused Albion problems, and goals from him, Anton Tavernier (2), Jake Softley, McKenzie Jeffreys, against his old club, and an own goal earned the points.

Softley scored a superb curled free-kick for the second week running from the edge of the box, with Tavernier, not to be overshadowed, hitting a long-range dipping shot.

Rangers' under-sevens made their league debut with a 7-0 victory at Stanningley Albion, with goals from man of the match Sammy Membe (2), Lewis Windle (2), Harvey Bostock (2) and Hayden Hewitt.

However, braces from Josh Whitford and Luke Jeffreys were not enough to save the under-nines Blues from a 7-4 defeat against Silsden Dragons.

Rangers' under-nine reds went down 4-3 to Silsden Knights, goals coming from Ben Gale(2) and Kendal McLoughlin, but the under-tens triumphed 8-0 at Silsden B, thanks to efforts by Dominic Parish (3), man of the match Joel Beaumont (2), George Edge (2) and Jodie Tiffany.

Bradford Warriors Under-12s began their Huddersfield RCD League programme with a 9-0 victory at Hade Edge, man of the match Joel Slater netting the first two, followed by Roberto McFarlane (3), Ben Cockroft (2), Adam Worby and Stephen Goldsborough.

Wyke Wanderers Under-11s won a physical encounter 3-2 at Deighton in Division One but were leading 2-0 via Jacob Smith and Reece Clay.

Deighton made it 2-2 before Clay's late winner but the B team lost 7-0 at home to Shelf.

Former Bradford United player Jack Mongan was on target to hand his old club a first defeat of the season in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe Under-16 C Division as hosts Thackley Reds won 4-1.

Lewis Haynes scored with a pin-point finish for United, whose man of the match was Emanuel Asiedu.

Bradford United Vipers recovered from a slow start in Division 13C to defeat Bingley Boca 10-4, Leighton Milner's passing and crossing being a key factor

He helped man of the match Josh Jackson to a first-half hat-trick, other goals coming from Omar Hayat (2), Milner (2), Luke Birkinshaw, Dominic Corps and Harry Parsons.

Having scored nine goals the previous week, Idle Juniors bettered it by one in the Under-Sevens Mini League, this time against Guiseley Greens.

Pocket rocket Ellis Lumb scored four in a tireless performance, while the speedy Alfie Ramsden was not far behind him with a hat-trick and a fine penalty save, Harry Naylor adding a brace.

In the Garforth League, Tabish Hussain (2), Zack Sangster, Jack Holroyd and Danny Frost helped Bradford United Eagles defeat visitors Hunslet 5-0 in Under-14 Division One.
