Washout; All sports fixtures on Bradford Council's grass pitches cancelled

All football and rugby fixtures scheduled to take place on Bradford Council grass pitches this weekend have been cancelled due to the recent heavy rainfall.

The local authority will carry out further pitch inspections on the waterlogged ground prior to next weekend's fixtures.

Ian Bairstow, strategic director for environment and sport at the Council, said: "We have contacted as many league secretaries as possible to let them know about the situation for this weekend's fixtures and we will continue to monitor the weather between now and next weekend's fixtures before deciding if they can go ahead."
