Matthew Ham prepares to score for BPA Lizards under-12s during their impressive 12-1 victory at BD7
Bradford Park Avenue Lizards under-12s made light of the cold weather to triumph 12-1 in a derby at BD7 in the Keybury Junior League.
Jack Wright opened the scoring for the visitors with a neat chip, and Lewis Moorhouse scored with a rare header before Cameron Brewster added a third.
Matthew Ham opened his season’s account with a sweet strike, and Haseeb Alam made it 5-0 before half-time with a solo effort.
There was no let-up after the break either, Alex Gibson jinking past three defenders to score and Dominic Corps getting a seventh before BD7 replied with an excellent team goal.
But Avenue finished on top, Corps and Moorhouse completing their hat-tricks and Gibson his brace.
Sutton Rascals under-13s were also hungry for goals in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe Junior League, defeating Bingley 11-1.
Toby Jeffery’s superb shot started things off, and two great goals from Tom Oddy made it 3-0.
Substitute Matthew Ramshaw scored with his first touch of the ball, and Oddy bagged two more goals to complete a great first half, even though Bingley netted just before the interval.
But the second half followed the pattern of the first, a great Matthew Phillips cross setting up Ben Clarkson to make it 7-1.
Olly Howard then profited in a goalmouth scramble, and Clarkson completed his hat-trick before man-of-the-match Harry Pocheia picked out Phillips with a great cross for Sutton’s final goal.
Myrtle Park Wanderers under-16s, who were strong from start to finish, beat Undercliffe 5-1.
Wanderers’ midfield controlled the game, with Oli Dunn and Nick Hutton both finding the net, along with strikers Jack Partington and Chris Dauffy Wheatley, centre back Haydn Baldwin’s cheeky flick finishing things off. James Celaire was man of the match.
Queensbury Celtic under-14s made it five wins in a row in the Huddersfield RCD Junior League with an 8-3 victory over second-placed Rastrick.
However, it was 3-3 at half-time before Dave Suddall completed his treble.
Matthew Szafranski led the defence in a strong second half but in-form Harry Matthews was man of the match for his consistent tackling and passing.
