Officials Peter Delaney and Paul Crosby have joined a select few in being honoured as Bradford Union life vice-presidents.

The pair became the first to receive the accolade since Mike Lynn in 1996, with top amateur player Rodney Foster being the only other person to be given the title back in 1984.

Crosby became Bradford Union treasurer in 1980 and still holds the position, while Delaney has given more than 35 years’ service to junior golf.

He has been junior organiser for the union since 1997 and before that held the role at Baildon for 22 years.

Delaney said: “It is a most terrific honour and came as a complete surprise.”

Delaney will remain as Bradford Union junior team manager and coaching co-ordinator but he is looking for someone else to take on the junior league and competition secretary role. He can be contacted on 07533-304617.

News of the vice-president awards was given at the union’s annual meeting. It was also announced that Cameron Dawson would be replacing Bryan Webb as general secretary and Dean Bailey will take over from Colin Taylor as league secretary.
