GOLF: Bradford captain Martin Gaffney is anticipating a tough end to the Yorkshire Inter-District League season as they welcome title-chasing Sheffield to Northcliffe tomorrow.

The visitors top the table but are on the same points as York, who are away to Harrogate, while the hosts are hoping to spoil the south Yorkshire side's party and ensure they don't finish bottom.

Gaffney is missing some key players but sees the match as another chance to blood youngsters with an eye to the future.

Woodhall Hills' Harry O'Callaghan and Bradford's James Tate both made winning debuts last time out and keep their places.

Gaffney said: "It will be a tough game as Sheffield are very much in contention for the title. A lot will depend on what team they put forward.

"For me, it’s all about the experience for our younger players as we try and develop the youth of the union.

"We are missing some experienced players through holidays so it will be a tough challenge."

The hosts include three Northcliffe players, including Bradford Open winner Jordan Clements, and Gaffney hopes that will make a difference.

"Northcliffe can be a bit quirky so hopefully local knowledge will help," he said.

Meanwhile, Gaffney has named his side for the Yorkshire Inter-District Team Championship at Halifax Bradley Hall on September 11, which sees a trio of Bingley St Ives players return.
