CROW Nest member Luke Higgins won the Northern Matchplay Championship at the Trump Turnberry resort to cap an outstanding season.
The format for the three-day event was matchplay within a league and Higgins played some sparkling golf on the first day to win 4&3 and claim the two points.
A few nerves showed on the second day and, with three holes to play, he was three down. But with dad Shaun on the bag and some words of encouragement, he rallied to secure a point via a half to put the trophy within sight.
After a good night's rest, he was ready for the challenge ahead and found his best form to complete a 5&4 victory and lift the silverware.
Before heading to Scotland, Higgins also triumphed in the final major of the season at the Brighouse course, taking the Thompson Shield.
* The Bradford & District Union Winter Alliance at West Bradford yesterday was cancelled due to bad weather.
