BRADFORD Golf Club almost notched a double triumph when the Bradford Union boys' and girls' individual championships were held at Northcliffe.

Ella Firbank (36) won the girls' event with 39 points, but clubmate Jackson Smith (12) was edged out in the boys' event by Shipley's Max Ryan (18), who won on a countback after both had notched 42.

Girls' Individual Championship (red tees): 1 Ella Firbank (36, Bradford) 39pts, 2 Hannah Chaudry (10, Northcliffe) 37, 3 Kate Lee (26, Cleckheaton) 35, 4 Olivia Pearson (18, Northcliffe) 28.

On Sunday, it is the Bradford Team Championship at Bradford Golf Club, and organisers will be hoping for better weather than last year when the event was washed out.

Meanwhile, Shipley duo Danny Rowley (1.10pm tee-off time) and Will Whiteoak (1.30pm) have entered the English Men's Amateur Championship on Monday at Alwoodley and Pannal, alongside Ilkley's Jack Lampkin (3.10pm). The local trio will all be in action first at Pannal.
