EVEN though York fielded eight players from the host club, Bradford captain Tim Wade was still disappointed by their 24-12 defeat at Fulford.

He said: "For the first time in ages, we didn't have to make any last-minute alterations, and Fulford was at its pristine best, although there was a testing breeze that got stronger as the day wore on."

Several of the matches switched around over the closing holes, with Terry Brushwood and Dane Bairstow and Mark Cook and Jack Laybourne both losing 16 and 17 to go down 2&1.

Conversely, Nigel Colbeck and Rob Hillas were always in command in a 3&1 win, while Andy Busfield almost holed his second shot for an eagle at the 18th to win by one hole with James Darcy.

However, Bradford lost the foursomes 8-4 and the singles 16-8, with Bairstow, Laybourne and Busfield notching good victories and Rob Malloy hanging on for a win by one hole.

The setback means Bradford have won two of their first four matches, leaving them fourth in the table as York leapfrogged them.
