Shipley member Will Whiteoak was part of the Yorkshire team that missed out on the England County Championship title by a point to Cornwall. The white rose side, captained by reigning Bradford Open champion Darryl Berry, gained wins over Warwickshire (5-4) and Surrey (6-3) in the finals at North Devon, Whiteoak claiming three and half points out of four.
But they lost 5-4 to Cornwall on the opening day and it proved crucial. Berry said: "I'm disappointed but my team battled well."
